I lost my bullets!

As many of you know, updating software can be a risky thing. Last week I updated my WordPress blogging software (sort of like what’s under the hood on a car) to the brand-new, feature-rich, security-fixed, version 2.5!

It seemed to go pretty well over all — I had to update a few plug-ins, and make some minor adjustments to my K2 theme, but one unexpected thing that happened is that I lost the bullets (•) in my bulleted lists!

So… I got my first experience editing CSS code today. I discovered that I could fix the problem, and even end up with squares instead of dots! Awesome!

My vocab level

I saw this interesting gadget on another person’s blog, and I was curious what my blog’s vocabulary level might be…

I’ve Been Hit! (Blog Report #1)

Hi! Yesterday marked the end of the third month of my adventure in ‘personal publishing’. To celebrate, I’m going to dump a load of ComfortZone’s statistics on you! Here they are according to Google Analytics:

  • Unique visitors: 122black-eye.jpg
  • Record number of visitors in one day: 58
  • Total visits: 566
  • Pageviews: 1861
  • Pages per visit (average): 3.3
  • Visitors came from 9 different countries
  • Visitors came from 13 different states
  • Number of posts: 45
  • Number of comments: 58
  • Browsers: 46% of you use Firefox, 31% of you use Internet Explorer, and 23% use Safari
  • Operating systems: 60% of you are on Macs, and 40% of you are on PCs

Not a huge amount of traffic, but it’s sure fascinating, isn’t it? Even as busy as life has been, I’ve had a blast with this new hobby! Thank you for reading it!

By the way—the black eye is from going off a trail on my mountain bike and running in to a tree! (It was in the spring of ‘06.)

Cute ‘lil Stinkers

OK! I’m starting a blog. I’m not sure now where it will go, but I thought it would be fun to have a place to share news, thoughts, pictures and artwork.

Here’s a picture of some unusual visitors that got trapped in our yard this past spring… We weren’t sure if rescuing them out of our empty pond (a buried bath tub) would be such a great idea, but we put a board in and they left during the night.
