My own ambigram

This evening I decided to see if I could make my own ambigram:

It’s a little rough, but I think I got it to work!

An ambigram, also sometimes known as an inversion, or flipscript, is a graphical figure that spells out one or more words not only as presented, but also in another direction or orientation (from Wikipedia).

Here are a couple examples of some very nice ones:

Mutual Pursuit

Sunday at our church barbeque I met (and flipped burgers with!) two different people who have found Christ in a very real way after years of seeking. Their stories were way different from mine, but their perspectives on what is important in life were so refreshing! It reminded me that God does not abandon us when we wander, but He actively looks for us as well! There are several stories that Jesus told that illustrate this truth — the Parable of the Lost Sheep in Luke 15 being the most memorable to me.

Thoughts on this topic brought me back to an image I created last year.  The gray and black figures represent us as we pursue God (click on the image above).

What we do not always notice is that God is near and is pursuing us at the same time. The white figures represent God pursuing us (click on the image below).

Recent Work

Here’s a project I worked on this morning!

Artex is in Canby, and is a world-leader in Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs). I have done their promotional and product literature, trade show display design, product photography, and lots of other fun stuff for several years now. This graphic is the start of a brand transition to their parent company; Cobham Avionics.

Work can be fun, but not vice-versa. Some days I am paid to work. Other days I am paid to have fun.
