Several years ago, my Grandma Ruth bought a used wheelchair, “in case she needed it someday.” We agreed to store it for her in our garage until she needed it. We’ll—most of the time it was in the garage! Sometimes the kids would take it out for fun, like seeing how fast they could go, or trying to get sympathy from passing motorists.
Here is a picture of Alison and Austin on such a day (with a little exaggeration!) …

Imagine if Austin had worn shoes instead of flip-flops that day!

Very glad to have this car running again, we are! (Especially Alison!)
Post an update in the future, I will. Fill you in since this and this, I must.
As I noted at the end of my “About” page, I used to have Phalacrophobia, but I don’t anymore.
This news is for guys who still have this phobia. Great! For 150 bucks you can:
- See if your future will be bright and shiny (or not)
- Know if you will continue living under cover, or come out on top
The test doesn’t fix anything. It supposedly just lets you know what the future holds. In my experience, the best cure for Phalacrophobia, is just to let nature take its course… it is impossible to have a “fear of going bald” when you are bald!
My favorite bald jokes:
- You don’t put a marble top on cheap furniture
- God only made a few perfect heads—the rest he covered up.
- I used to have wavy hair—until it waved good-bye!
Feel free to contribute your bald jokes and one-liners. I need some new ones!
This technology essentially would extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and, using a form of electrochemical separation, turn it into fuel. The goal is to create a fuel that will work with existing vehicle and aircraft infrastructure.
Cool! It solves two big problems at once!
- Too much CO2
- Not enough clean fuel
Here’s what I envision it looking like:

(Maybe we will be able to fuel our jet packs with these?)
Here’s where I first heard about it.
While surfing on my lunch hour yesterday, I came across this gem! Could this be the future of hybrid technology? (Watch out, Freightliner!) Hey, I suppose these guys could “steer” it into one of the hybrids-only parking spots!

On this Celebrity Look-alike site, I discovered that my passport photo (at 18 years old) matched up with: Barack Obama! Who knew?! It is an uncanny resemblance!
Looking further at his biography (Wikipedia, so it has to be right!), I discovered there are other things we have in common:
- Both of us were born in 1961
- Both of us were born outside of US mainland (me: Costa Rica, Barack: Hawaii)
- Both of us attended elementary schools in foreign countries (me: Bolivia, Barack: Indonesia), where classes were taught in a foreign language (me: Spanish, Barack: Bahasa)
- Both of our middle names are “Hussein” (just kidding!)
Looks like that’s where the similarities end… but check out this cool morph:
