An old home movie (and a nice surprise!)

I’ve seen lots of pictures of me when I was a kid, but never a home movie — until today! Long-time family friends Gerald and Margaret Lemmons recently gave my parents this short clip from their collection of old movies.

It was 1965, and our family was visiting theirs in New York City. Yup. Here’s a little bit of evidence that I was there! (At the zoo anyway!!)

In this movie: Gene and Betty Comfort, my parents; my older brothers, Rick and Ken; my younger brother, Dennis, Gerald and Margaret’s son, Mike; and a split-second glimpse of Margaret by the picnic table!

Very, very cool! Thanks Gerald and Margaret!

We’re Goin’ to New Yok-Citee!

When Aaron was a little kid, he used to repeat this line over and over with a great British accent. We really got a kick out of it. Now he’s grown, and actually IS going to New York City!

This is for you Aaron!

Diecut Brochure Job

Several weeks ago I made this display for my boss to use in a presentation to some potential new clients. It has clear pockets so people can remove and handle the sample brochures.

(The display has what I call “the outrigger” on the right—a replica of our sign on Elliott Road… which, by the way, does NOT fit the table it is sitting on in his office!)

It worked! One business, a remodeling company in Sherwood, really liked the die-cut samples. So I got busy, and in two weeks we designed, printed and delivered it—just in time for the Remodeler’s Home Tour. We also made matching business cards, refrigerator magnets, notepads, postcards and thank you cards!

Here’s the brochure—simple but effective:
