This evening I decided to see if I could make my own ambigram:
It’s a little rough, but I think I got it to work!
An ambigram, also sometimes known as an inversion, or flipscript, is a graphical figure that spells out one or more words not only as presented, but also in another direction or orientation (from Wikipedia).
Here are a couple examples of some very nice ones:

I’m so jealous. I’d try to do one with my name too, but when someone with your artistic bent writes “to see if I could make,” I figure it’s a lost cause.
Impressive. Are left-handers better at this? How long did it take to work it out? Any certain technique, or just revelation?
Thanks! It’s kind of a fun combination of two things I like; puzzles and lettering. This took me about 2 hours to create, and then another hour to make the rotating animation and blog post.
With a pen and a notepad, I made sketches, and looked at it upside-down, over and over until it looked like it might work. Also, I started on both end ends and worked toward the center.
Making the M to be an EL was pretty easy. The most difficult part was making the I be an A (and vice-versa), and the CH was also a challenge so it wouldn’t look like a cursive F or a P.
After I had the concept done by hand, I drew the shapes in Illustrator. First the MIC, which I duplicated and rotated to become the AEL. Then the C which rotated became the H. That’s it!
