A New Endeavor

After a long count-down, Deanne made a new start today!

The landing of the shuttle Endeavor yesterday reminded me of this drawing I did a few years ago of a space shuttle launch. It struck me how this picture captures the start of Deanne’s new career, and what took place to make it happen:

  • Many years of dreaming, planning, study, and expense
  • The support and encouragement of many people (wonderful friends and family)

In case you hadn’t heard, Deanne got a full-time job as a family therapist with an agency in Salem. This will move her much more quickly through the requirements for being licensed, and it will also make it much easier to begin paying off the student loans! Her recently-started private practice in Newberg has been put on hold for the foreseeable future. (We took the sign down at the office downtown in about 30 seconds last weekend!)

There will be unexpected challenges ahead, but it is sure to be rewarding and satisfying for her. She is going to do well — I have been sure of that from the beginning!
