Happy Birthday, Billy!

Today is Billy Graham’s 90th birthday!

(You can personally wish this remarkable man a Happy Birthday here.)

Here he is in a picture with the famous (around here anyway) Four Flats quartet.

Dick Cadd, Ron Crecelius, Norval Hadley and Harlow Ankeny gained fame in the 1950s when the Four Flats won several barbershop festivals. Later they traveled world-wide in ministry for World Vision.

Red-tailed Hawk

On my way to a photo shoot at Friendsview’s Springbrook Meadows this morning I drove by this Red-tailed Hawk. He ignored me for several minutes!

A cat… and no mouse

Here’s a bit of family news… we’ve got a cat! Actually it’s Alison’s new cat, but we are all definitely enjoying it!

At our pumpkin carving party, my brother Ken asked if anybody wanted a cat. His neighbor in Milwaukie had been taking care of an abandoned cat and was looking for a home for it. Usually when anybody asks that question, the answer is quick and definite “No, Thanks!”

But the idea had been discussed at our dinner table a few weeks prior to this, so we were open to the possibility. Within a day or so, Alison decided the time was right. So the arrangements were made, and Ken and Tonya’s neighbors personally delivered it out here to Dundee! This man and his wife have placed several rescued cats in the Portland area, and really care about their well-being.

This cat (not named yet) is very friendly (unlike our last one!) and gets to be inside (also unlike our last one!).
