A cat… and no mouse

Here’s a bit of family news… we’ve got a cat! Actually it’s Alison’s new cat, but we are all definitely enjoying it!

At our pumpkin carving party, my brother Ken asked if anybody wanted a cat. His neighbor in Milwaukie had been taking care of an abandoned cat and was looking for a home for it. Usually when anybody asks that question, the answer is quick and definite “No, Thanks!”

But the idea had been discussed at our dinner table a few weeks prior to this, so we were open to the possibility. Within a day or so, Alison decided the time was right. So the arrangements were made, and Ken and Tonya’s neighbors personally delivered it out here to Dundee! This man and his wife have placed several rescued cats in the Portland area, and really care about their well-being.

This cat (not named yet) is very friendly (unlike our last one!) and gets to be inside (also unlike our last one!).

My Blog’s First Birthday

I’ve just finished the first year of my adventure in ‘personal publishing’ with this blog, and to celebrate I’m going to share a bunch of ComfortZone stats with you (and show you a picture of me on my real first birthday!).

This sure has been a good creative outlet for me. I have enjoyed the interactions and comments I’ve gotten from people, and I have learned a ton from fiddling with it. Here are some ComfortZone stats from Google Analytics:

  • Record number of visitors in one day: 58
(Thanks to Sherry for putting a link in the church newsletter!)
  • Total visits: 3,059
  • Visitors have come from 37 different countries and 43 different states

Other (I think it’s interesting!):

  • Browsers: 49% of you use Firefox, 34% of you use Internet Explorer, and 17% use Safari
  • Operating systems: 41% of you are on Macs, and 59% of you are on PCs

My goals for the next year are to keep learning CSS, keep writing, designing and drawing, and keep having fun with it.

Celebrate this season too

I have to admit, fall is not my favorite season…

but today I was reminded that it does have much to enjoy and appreciate.

The sight of the sun shining on our Big Leaf Maple this afternoon brought me a new appreciation…

…and then there is leaf raking — which I actually do enjoy.

But I am glad it is only once a year.
