My sons Aaron and Austin, and my niece’s daughter Hannah, were in the cast of an awesome performance of Richard III at Newberg High School last night.
Wow. It was an intense, well-acted, and long (2.5 hours?) production. I was
- Disgusted (at the evil)
- Amazed (at the talent and hard work of the actors)
- And proud (of my 3—and their friends)
Somebody posted this video clip on YouTube…
Notice this part especially, where the Aaron (left), Austin (center) and Hannah (right) prepare to battle Richard and his forces… How cool is that?!

If you’d like to see it, it plays April 18 & 19, and 24, 25 & 26, at 7:30pm.

What a fantastic job the kids all did. I enjoyed myself, was proud of the kids (yours and mine), and didn’t understand more than a handful of sentences
I didn’t either! Maybe they should project the modern English on a screen (subtitles?) for those of us unfamiliar with Olde English!
What DID communicate very well was the emotion and expression of the actors.
I can’t wait to see it next weekend. Which night should I go to see your kids?
They are on every night. (I guess it’s only Richard that alternates actors.)
On Friday they’ll be at Deanne’s Hooding for the start of it. HOPEFULLY they’ll get to see Deanne get her hood since she is a “C”, then they’ll have to rush back to Newberg to get to the play before their scene starts!
Watch out during the battle at the end!
A 6″ piece of Richard’s “sword” broke off during the fight, and it flew out into the audience, hitting my Mom in the shoulder!! (She was in the 4th row, and she was not injured.)
